France Rejects Any Peace Deals Surrendering Ukrainian Territory

(MENAFN) France's presidential office flatly rejected Friday any peace framework that surrenders Ukrainian territory, emphasizing that robust security commitments for Kyiv must precede discussions on disputed lands, media reported.

"We need full clarity on security guarantees before any adjustment on contentious territorial issues can even be considered," the Elysee declared during a media briefing.

The presidency delivered an unequivocal message: no Ukrainian territory will change hands, and proposals for demilitarized buffer zones are off the table.

"The Russians must understand that if they resume the war [after a cease-fire agreement], they will be facing the Europeans, the Americans, and the Ukrainians. The first security guarantee is equipping a strong, robust Ukrainian army to deter Russia," the presidency emphasized, according to reports.

The Elysee outlined Europe's strategic vision: forging "a solid common foundation for negotiations, one that must bring together the Americans, Ukrainians and Europeans so they can jointly present the Russians with a strong, lasting peace proposal that respects international law and Ukraine's sovereign interests."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed Friday that his nation is pursuing simultaneous negotiating channels with European and American allies, addressing security arrangements, economic reconstruction and diplomatic alignment aimed at ending the conflict.

Germany stands ready to host bilateral discussions with Zelenskyy on Monday, where Berlin will address financial assistance for Ukraine and review emerging diplomatic efforts.
